Bloggers Do The Smell Test.
August 16th, 2008 Filed Under Blogs
“We have Bigfoot in a freezer.” So says the new Bigfoot hunters. Bloggers thought the story didn’t smell right. And guess what? They were right. As the Bigfoot hoax will be revealed in the coming days, bloggers have already called them out. Yet big press is still being bestowed on these liars. So far, Fox news (if you consider that news) and New York Times have both dedicated some ink that reads as though this might be possible. Why mention it here? Two reasons.
First, the news agencies have been chasing the tail of the bloggers for the last couple years. Why in the world would they give this story even a shred of credibility. The fact checking by the bloggers turned this story out within hours of the first claim. Time to get with the program.
Second, the person perpetuating this story is a Sheriff’s Deputy. He has testified numerous times over the last 6 years. In doing so he has looked twelve people in the eye, the same way he stares into the eyes of dozens of press reporters, here. That jury has counted on him to tell truth, not make up stories. Shocking and shameful.
It is worth noting that the Bigfoot hunters sought a medical expert. Perhaps the only thing more compelling than Police Officer testimony is what? That is right, scientific evidence. This hoax was uncovered within hours. The medical expert was the brother to Sheriff Deputy Whitton. Carry on.

Boating Under the Influence (BUI) 2008
August 5th, 2008 Filed Under Uncategorized
This was another banner year for Boating Under the influence tickets. From KIRO:
Police made a record number of drunk boating arrests last year at Seafair with nearly 100 BUIs over the big weekend. So far, over two of the three day period, police said just a fraction of those stops have been made.
Seattle police have made 23 boating under the influence (BUI) arrested between Friday and Saturday at Seafair, said Jeff Kappel of the Seattle Police Department.
The Washington State Patrol reported they made 31 BUI arrests Saturday, bringing the total of BUI arrests to 54.
Seattle police also made one domestic violence arrest at Seafair and police issued eight parking violations for people parking in disabled/handicapped parking spots.
Seattle Lawyers throughout the State will be addressing these cases.

The Wrong Way to Get a Discount
August 3rd, 2008 Filed Under Traffic
Who says crime doesn’t pay? Aliph, makers of the ultra-cool noise-reducing Jawbone Bluetooth headset, have come up with a great marketing scheme. If you live in California, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, New Jersey, New York, or Washington — all states with laws requiring hands-free use of mobile phones — and receive a ticket for yapping with your iPhone plastered to your ear, Jawbone will deduct $20 off the purchase price of one of their headsets. You can’t get a discount on the Silver Tongue model, but the prices for the Goldy Lips and Blah Blah Black versions end up at $129.99 and $109.99 respectively. All you need to do is go to the Jawbone website, look for the Hands Free Ticket Processor, and enter your state and ticket number. $20 is taken off the original purchase price, and you’re ready to go.Source: TUAW
